PUMP ENGINEERING

The planned growth of the group plus the varying data quality (parts, parts lists, drawings) at the different locations worldwide were the crucial factors for pressing on with permanent harmonisation and streamlining of product data (duplicates issue) within the group. The prerequisite for this was the selection, conception and introduction of a multi-ERP-compatible PDM solution.

Situation: Part masters, parts lists, drawings or classification data were copied and amended locally in local ERP systems worldwide to suit each specific job. The data could not be sufficiently reproduced for central product data management in Germany and change processes were no longer under control.

Brief:

• Selection, conception and establishment of a suitable PDM system within a heterogeneous ERP system environment (six established ERP systems)
• Multi-ERP integration with the aim of consolidation on a leading PDM system, including appropriate data migration and replication mechanisms
• Setting up consistent master data management worldwide (parts, documents, change management, etc.)
• Migration of a highly developed classification system (for finding/configuring parts lists in the ERP)

Result:

• Change management for all materials master data, parts lists and documents plus the complete classification runs on a central DVS and PLM backbone (including multi-language/Unicode capability, integration of China, etc.)
• All the group’s product data is therefore subjected to central change management on the basis of a central authorisation concept
• Creation of the conditions for permanent consolidation and active control of the product data distributed around the world
