Pump construction

The planned growth of the group as well as the different data quality (articles, parts lists, drawings) at the various locations worldwide were decisive factors in driving forward the sustainable harmonization and cleansing of product data (issue of duplicates) within the group. The prerequisite for this was the selection, design and introduction of a multi-ERP-capable PDM solution.

Client:
Netzsch Pumpen & Systeme GmbH
Leading pump and system manufacturer
> 2,000 employees in the group

Industry:
Pump and system manufacturer

Topic:
PDM system introduction, document management, product data migration, SAP PLM, parts list organization, distributed product development, change management, PDM selection, benchmark, PDM backbone setup, product configuration

Situation:
Article masters, parts lists, drawings or classification data were copied on site worldwide in each company's own ERP system and modified for specific orders. For the central product data management in Germany, the data was no longer sufficiently reproducible and change processes could no longer be controlled.

Task:

  • Selection, conception and development of a suitable PDM system within a heterogeneous ERP system environment (6 grown ERP systems)
  • Multi-ERP connection with the aim of consolidation to a leading PDM system including suitable data migration and replication mechanisms
  • Development of a globally standardized master data management system (parts, documents, change management, etc.)
  • Migration of a very sophisticated classification system (for finding and configuring parts lists in the ERP)
  • Ensuring the integration of the quotation configurator with the ERP parts list configuration.

Result:

  • The change management of all material masters, parts lists, documents and the complete classification runs on a central DMS and PLM backbone (incl. multilingual/Unicode capability, connection to China, etc.)
  • All of the Group's product data is therefore subject to a central change service based on a central authorization concept
  • Creation of the prerequisites for sustainable consolidation and active management of the globally distributed product data.
