Duplicates and unnecessary variants result in high development, manufacturing and process costs. By intelligently identifying identical and similar parts, we lay the foundations for the consistent reuse of existing components. This reduces complexity, improves data quality and enhances the cost-effectiveness of your products.

Identify and reuse components.

  • The systematic reuse of parts or assemblies reduces manufacturing and process costs and enables robust data analysis across a wide range of areas.
  • Using the configuration tool, we can reuse identical parts or carry out a similarity analysis.
  • Identification can be carried out either via our DLP fingerprint – which we generate during the configuration process and store in the PDM – or using existing specification attributes (e.g. a unique type code).

Fingerprint Algorithm
: Find rather than search: The fingerprint algorithm combines the defining parameters of a configuration into a unique identifier. This enables variants to be retrieved quickly and reliably within the PDM system, whilst eliminating the need for time-consuming searches across numerous characteristics.

Replacement of found variants
Focus on the configuration, not on searching for existing variants. The Fingerprint plug-in automatically recognises existing identical parts and replaces them automatically upon check-in. This ensures that existing data is reused in the background, whilst designers can achieve their results without any additional steps.
