Product configuration industrial valve construction

The topic of product digitalization and process acceleration is becoming increasingly important in the industrial valves market. Customer and sales requirements are increasing and the internet, often at the beginning of the sales process chain, is becoming ever more important. The design department is responding to this and investing in 3D technology. Valves, butterfly valves or ball valves are configured in the 3D CAD system at runtime and made available to the sales department or the customer as a reduced model. In the event of an order, this variant can be used as a basis and any ETO adjustments can be made. Data consistency towards the subsequent processes in the ERP system can also be made transparent.

Situation:
The company uses a 3D CAD system, but without utilizing the automation options. CAD models, quotation or order drawings were based on the "same as back then, but" approach, i.e. they were based on completed orders or CAD models and drawings and adapted to suit specific employees. Everything was standard and there was no clear distinction between standard, options and customer requirements. Technical errors, probably caused by copying, led to expensive recalls.
