Hall configurator

A well-known manufacturer of steel construction halls would like to provide its customers and interested parties with an initial drawing of the requested hall together with the offer during the inquiry and quotation phase. At the same time, the current hall configurator on the web is to be replaced by a new CAD configurator.

Situation:
The company uses ams.erp for ERP and Bocad for steel construction. The quotation and parts list configuration is completely mapped in ams.erp. There was no link between the ERP world and the CAD world. This meant that the creation of quotation drawings took a long time, took up design capacity and was only carried out for selected inquiries. For this reason, there was a desire to automatically generate a quotation drawing for all inquiries and attach it to every quotation.

Goals:

  • faster response to customer inquiries with quotations and quotation drawings
  • More inquiries and quotations with the same team
  • Increase in turnover and earnings
  • Standardization of working methods in the design department
  • noticeable reduction in sales support from the design department

DLP services:

  • Realization of the interface between the CAD configurator and the ERP system ams.erp
  • Transfer of configuration results from ams.erp to customX
  • Creation of the CAD model master in Inventor and the drawing master in AutoCAD
  • Mapping of product logic, calculation and quotation generation in the customX configurator
  • Parallel control of Inventor and AutoCAD, with automated generation of 3D views and quotation drawings
  • Storage of quotations in the PRO.FILE PDM system with a link to the quotation in ams.erp
  • Development of the new web configurator, also based on the customX configurator
  • Integration of the e-mail server for automated dispatch of the quotation
  • Implementation of the usability and CI specifications of our customer's advertising agency

Result:

  • Quotation drawings with isometric representation of the requested hall are sent directly to the interested party with the quotation
  • Successful transfer and use of the existing product logic and object dependencies (rules, calculations, etc.) from ams.erp in the CAD configurator
  • Reduction of response time and processing costs by factors
  • Higher offer quality and therefore an increase in incoming orders with the same team
  • more time and capacity in the design department for the development of new innovative products.
