Agricultural machinery II

Manufacturers of modern front loaders often offer better features than the tractor manufacturer in terms of power, stability, loading capacity and new innovative loader designs. At the same time, tractor manufacturers are constantly bringing new models and vehicle-specific adaptations (e.g. emissions regulations) onto the market. In this field of tension, the front loader manufacturer is often subject to high adaptation requirements in the areas of mechanics, hydraulics, electrics and controls with short permissible response times.

Client:
Leading manufacturer of front loaders
> 400 employees

Industry:
Agricultural machinery construction

Topic:
Process optimization R&D, document management, overall IT concept, design guidelines, ROI/cost/benefit analysis, parts list organization, change management, process optimization design - fixture construction, product configuration

Situation:
Depending on the tractor manufacturer and model, the attachments and add-on parts on the tractor frame can vary greatly in terms of their dimensions and design. As the respective design variance has a direct impact on the required fixtures and tools and thus on the design and adaptation process, this area must be systematically optimized.

Task:
The company would like to

  • a sustainable reduction in costs and a shortening of the lead time for the design/adaptation of add-on parts incl. hydraulics/control incl. drawing creation (keyword 3D CAD, drawing derivation) or creation/maintenance of the parts list
  • Optimization of the entire release process
  • Creation of scope for the development of innovative customer solutions.

Result:

  • Successful analysis of the products and data as well as the technical organization and processes
  • Detailed analysis of the different adaptation requirements, efforts and throughput times
  • Analysis of IT systems (CAD, PDM, ERP, configurator, etc.)
  • Identification of weak points and potential
  • Formulation and prioritization of the need for action
  • Coordination of the project goals incl. measurability with the management
  • Drawing up a roadmap for achieving the project goals
  • Preparation of the detailed task plan
  • Continuous implementation support/internal plus external project management
  • Conceptual and technical/content-related input
  • Ongoing controlling of the defined project objectives vs. the improvements achieved.
