The company’s employees have really profound expertise in the fields of bulk goods plants, open-cast mining technology, warehousing technology, processing technology, loading systems, materials-handling technology and port engineering. More than half of the staff is involved in engineering.
Client: Leading plant engineers for materials-handling and open-cast mining > 1,000 employees
Branch: Materials-handling engineering
Topic: PDM system roll-out, document management, overall IT concept, product data migration, SAP PLM, distributed product development, change management, DMS and/or PDM selection
Situation: Based on a wide range of large equipment, individual machines and plants, the company supplies key materials-handling installations for open-cast mining, power stations and the metallurgy, cement, building materials, chemicals and fertilisers industries as well as handling systems for ports. Projects extend over many years. That results in great numbers of commercial and technical documents, primarily in engineering, but also in the commercial/logistics areas. The filing systems in use were reaching their limits. There was multiple filing, copying, sending and changing of documents. Owing to the personalised filing structures, it was hardly possible, sometimes impossible, to find or reuse documents easily. On top of that there were problems in the areas of performance, data consistency and data security. In the end, all these issues led to the decision to select and introduce an integrated DMS/PDM solution throughout the company.
